What could be better than a winter wedding at Claridges? Perhaps the wedding of Abbé and Scott at Claridges, photographed by Lloyd Dobbie and co-ordinated by The Bespoke Wedding Company! This was a truly chic affair set in the beautiful surroundings of the French drawing room and the French salon, using the purest and luxurious combination of white hydrangeas and phalaeonopsis orchids.

To complement her gorgeous gown, Abbé carried a cascading bouquet of orchids and hydrangea, which were echoed in the arrangements for the ceremony. We think Scott liked them too!

Abbé and Scott wanted their wedding to look and feel elegant, so we used silver and mirrored vases, luxuriously filled with hydrangeas and orchids and accessorised with dozens of mercury votives….you can never have enough flickering candlelight!

The elegant theme continued for dinner with mirrored vases on exquisitely dressed tables. This was truly a Claridges affair!

A few weeks ago we were invited by Rona Wheeldon to give an interview for her wonderfully inspirational blog Flowerona. Rona loves all things floral and, as a trained florist with an exceptional eye for detail, is someone after our own hearts. As well as her blog, Rona also writes for Wedding Flowers Magazine (one of our favourites!) and is a regular contributor to Heart Home, a dreamily gorgeous online lifestyle and interiors magazine. Take a look at our interview here to see how we got started, our favourite flowers and what we’re about.

This isn’t the first time we’ve been featured on Flowerona, because last year she caught us in full flow on stage at the New Covent Garden Flower Market, for their Summer Wedding Flowers Event. This was an event that we really enjoyed because it not only gave us the chance to showcase our work, but to talk about what we love…the business of flowers. Apologies if I look rather crazed, but I do tend to wave my arms around a lot once I get started!! You can see Rona’s full report of the event here.

When wedding planner Elizabeth Gall, from Simply Elegant approached us to do the flowers for the wedding of Bianca and David, there was a very specific request….purple roses! With the wedding taking place in in the Kent countryside near fields filled with lavender, we could see the connection. As there are no naturally purple roses however, we matched them with the stunning magenta “Mamy Blue”, which not only look amazing, but are also gorgeously scented.

As so very often happens in our job, we were on hand (behind a conveniently placed tree!) to transfer the ceremony flowers from the church to the reception at Brandshatch Place, before the guests arrived.

The ballroom of the hotel was exquisitely dressed by Elizabeth, and our elegant trumpet vases filled with lights and topped with domes of white hydrangeas gave height and glamour to the room. Jonathan Ryan captured the day with his beautiful photographs, and you can see the full story of the day on his website here.

The week before Christmas, Euphoric took to the road and headed to the tranquil Welsh countryside for the wedding of Marc and Lucy. The venue was Plas Cilybebyll (pronounced killybebeth!), a private country house which the couple had booked for the whole weekend. The wedding, expertly co-ordinated by Lester Gethings from No.10 Wedding Design & Management brought many of the suppliers from London, which was no mean feat considering the fact that we had sun, rain, wind and black ice!
Marc and Lucy were married in the tiny local church (tucked away down a winding lane, under moss covered trees) where Lucy carried a bouquet of white Gypsophila, which she’d set her heart on (more gyp later).

The reception was held in the Petit Chateau in the grounds of the house. In this intimate setting, we dressed the tables with silver and crystal candelabras, crystal candlesticks and mercuried votives. Collections of low vases, filled with softly scented pink waxflower were grouped on every table, creating an elegant and understated style.

All through the design process, Lucy had said that she really wanted to have a big ball of gyp hanging in the house. The speaches took place in the hall, so we hung it there from the beautiful brass chandelier, where it looked amazing with the petal covered wedding cake from Peggy Porschen in the background.

Our thanks to Sacha Miller for his beautiful photographs, more of which you can see on his blog here.

When London cake designer Emily Smith, from Tempting Cake suggested that we get together to showcase how beautiful, fresh flowers can transform a wedding cake, how could we say no? We love dressing wedding cakes and, a plain stacked cake like this example from Emily really is the perfect base with which to start. All images here courtesy of Liesl Cheney, whose work we love.
For the first cake we used Peonies, which have to be one of THE most popular flowers for summer weddings. These gorgeous blooms with their multi-layered petals and soft pastel shades, are perfect for a romantic cascading decoration in May and June.

For something bolder in colour with a touch of the exotic, fabulous purple Vanda Orchids create a striking centrepiece. Complementing these, delicate trails of Clematis add softness and tone perfectly with the orchid heads.

For a look that evokes an English summer garden, Emily edged the cake with ethereal lace ribbon and we chose a romantic combination including variegated trails of Periwinkle, heads of lime green Viburnum and white Queen Anne’s Lace. These are just a few of the designs we created, but you can see more inspiration on the Tempting Cake blog here.

Amanda and Richards’ weddings has to be one of our favourites last year. They were an absolutely lovely couple to work with and, we were able to use some of our favourite English summer flowers. The venue was the stunning Barnsley House in Gloucestershire. Add to that wedding planner Helen Carter (one of the most organised people we know) and photographer Eliza Claire and, you have the recipe for the perfect wedding.

Amanda and Richard wanted a day full of love, fun and laughter in an English country garden. They wanted their daughters to be their bridesmaids and for the wedding to look and feel romantic and informal.

Wild flower style bouquets of pinks, blue nigella, marjoram, chamomile and astilbe were perfect for the girls and echoed the jam jars, hanging from shepherds crooks, lining the aisle.

Following the ceremony the guests made their way into the potager garden, where escort cards tied to vintage bottles and filled with an array of summer flowers, guided them to their tables in the marquee for lunch.

The vintage theme continued with every table having a different collection of glass vases and crockery. Scented stocks, roses, marjoram, pinks, scabious, queen anne’s lace and poppy heads brought the garden in; perfect for a summer wedding. For more stunning images of this gorgeous wedding, you can see the full story on Eliza’s blog here.

Every so often you have clients who are such a delight to work with and, a photographer whose work is so beautiful that you feel really emotional over such a wonderful event. Lisa and Alex were two such clients and Marianne Taylor is one of those photographers!! We knew this wedding was going to be special when we first met Lisa and Alex, both of whom work in design and, both of whom poured all their creativity and passion into every detail of their day.

To start with, they chose Preston Court in Kent as their venue, with it’s lake and gazebo and, in this idyllic setting the sun DID shine for their outdoor ceremony. Vintage was the order of the day, and we were happy to oblige with a flower palette of English garden hydrangeas, dahlias, blousy “Faith” roses and herbs.

The design for this reception has to be one of our favourites, inspired by Lisa and Alexs’ legendary mood boards (we really should get them framed) with one long table to seat all their guests. The hessian runner created a perfect base for nearly one hundred vases, tea cups and bottles and, the amazing painted organ which is a permanent feature couldn’t have made a more perfect back drop.

We’re so glad that Lisa and Alex decided not to have a traditional wedding cake, opting instead for this gorgeous cheese one instead. They did however have Eton Mess in tea cups for dessert, after we gave back the caterer the tea cups which we thought were for flowers!! This was such a joyful wedding and these are a only a fraction of the gorgeous photographs that Marianne took, so please take a look at the whole day in all its glory here. You can also see a fantastic video of the day by Mark Brown here.
